- What is your business? - make this obvious
- Design the background to your industry & specifically yours
- Maintain industry trends - what is the current style of the business?
- Less is more "KISS" principle - keep it simple
- Make it tidy, line up objects unless the business requires otherwise
- Left align for text, centred text is ok for headings only
- Only a few lines if text block is a half page wide - no wider
- Use more lines if text block is a third of a page or less
- Borders work well with text - business appropriate design images perhaps?
- Plenty of space between objects on each page - images need to be clear
- Be erratic with different layouts for pages & users won't stay
- How do I choose colours? - stick to your business colours to unify
- Unify logos, advertising, promotion material, business cards, building colours
- Text needs to be readable so check against background contrast
- Limit your use of colour unless business is about this specifically
- Garish colours may turn readers away
